Welcome 2017!

Hello 2017! It’s been a long time coming, and 2016 has been a wild, and at times terrible ride. Aside from the politcal circus and celebrity deaths, it was a weird year. I felt frustrated and not very motivated a lot of the time, and life felt very stagnant. Grad school had me down and I’m still feeling that I’ve yet to find more than one class I’ve enjoyed here. Nevertheless, the new year is here and there’s so much to look forward to!

For starters, this is my last semester of classes for my master’s degree (and maybe ever). I’ll be working hard to finish up my research and write my thesis, and graduating. I feel a lot more motiviated with an end in sight. Honestly, I’m burned out from school. At the end of last semester, I found myself not feeling pressured by due dates or caring about my assignments. My grades didn’t slip but I just geniunely hated school. Now I’m starting up the job search and excited to finally land a big girl job.

The most exciting part of this year to come is finally moving out of my parents place and living with my boyfriend. We’ve been talking about it for some time, but this is the year we will both be done with grad school and ready to move to a new city and find a place we can both call home. I can’t wait to become the crazy, interior designer that I know I can be, and I’m excited to finally have both of our stuff in one place.

Lastly, I’m excited to have more free time to explore hobbies, travel, and have time for family and friends. Weekend getaways will be so much more enjoyable once I have vacation time and no worries about finishing up homework while I’m away.

I also have some goals in mind (resolutions sound like you’re fixing a problem) for the year:

  1. Clear and glowing skin. I started my skincare kick last year by trying some serums from The Ordinary and have noticed noticibly softer skin. I’m working on reducing hyperpigmentation and was gifted a Clarisonic for Christmas, which I love!
  2. Work on fitness. I probably worked out a total of 5 times last year which is pretty sad. Not that I want to lose any weight, but it would be nice to have more energy, feel better, and reduce my anxiety. I’m all set up with a gym membership, have pretty training shoes on the way, and have gear to workout at home! I’m excited to feel more confident at the gym and be a little more toned.
  3. Cook more. At the age of 23, I think I should have a few recipes up my sleeve and I’m going to be away from home, so it’s time to adult.

I hope this year brings everyone the happiness, success, and adventure they are seeking. This has the potential to be our best year yet!
